SR STAFF/PROJECT ENGINEER

Develop and implement capital and expense projects, primarily in the pulping, bleaching and utility areas. Provide engineering knowledge in the areas of mechanics, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to solve operating and maintenance problems.
Provide accurate scope development and cost estimating as part of the overall project justification process.
Develop investment proposals to secure project funding.
Design low cost solutions to achieve improved results from existing equipment.
Develop and issue required drawings including as-built drawings.
Manage project costs and execution to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Coordinate, schedule and supervise project construction.
Provide a safe work environment for contractors during construction and for operations after the project is complete.
Provide engineering consistent with GP design standards and insure compliance of assigned projects.
Facilitate project reviews, project audits and other project related meetings.
Support operations and maintenance in solving recurring issues and support maintenance on scheduled and unscheduled outages.
Prioritize and plan assignments to provide maximum value to the business.
B.S. Mechanical Engineering or similar background.
A minimum of 5 years experience with project and/or maintenance engineering work.
Knowledge - Skills and Abilities:
Technical knowledge in mechanical engineering (flows, energy transfer, basic structural, strength of materials, etc).
Practical experience in applying engineering solutions.
AutoCAD proficiency for making layout & fabrication drawings.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Capable of managing workload to meet project schedules. (Planning and Prioritizing)
Tracking and controlling project cost.
