Leaf River Cellulose is a single line mill built in 1984 and produces up to 2000 ADSTPD bleached kraft market pulp and fluff pulp. The mills workforce is streamlined and process engineers work daily with operations leaders and management. This position reports to the Technology Leader and performs process engineering work in the analysis, planning and control of the pulp manufacturing process.
The position supports and helps develop the mill and company technology plans, is expected to bring ideas of how to improve operations and profits, and is considered a valuable mill asset. This position is given much authority, influence and responsibility. Position will initially support the dryer/machine area, but prior knowledge of area is not a requirement. Prior paper or board machines experience or fluff grade production is a plus. Title/Role
is dependent on experience level.
Serve as primary technical resources for process area. Lead projects from idea generation to completion. Develop viable cost saving or process improvement opportunities. Lead others and supervise co-ops and/or lab technicians.
Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering program and/or Pulp and Paper Technology Curriculum with associated experience in pulp and paper facility.
Working knowledge in plant engineering, pulp manufacturing operation, machines operation and/or quality control. Experience in evaluating data, learning new processes, developing small and large projects, and daily troubleshooting.
2 or more years plant or related experience in Chemical or Process Engineering field.
