Strategic Sourcing Specialist
Rock-Tenn Company Corrugated Packaging Division Headquarters is seeking a entry level-mid level Stragegic Sourcing Specialist who is responsible for assisting category sourcing, gathering, analyzing, purchasing, administration, and reporting for indirect, MRO, services, and commodities. Actively participate in RockTenn Divisional and Corporate purchasing initiatives and interaction with key suppliers. This position will ensure suppliers consistently deliver total quality, low cost, continuous improvement, and value performance. This position reports directly to the RockTenn Corrugated Director of Procurement.
Perform sourcing initiatives using a comprehensive and effective knowledge of the strategic sourcing process and practical utilization of various sourcing tools and analytical cost analysis programs.
Administration of strategic sourcing projects including the development, distribution, and review of RFI/RFQ/RFP and vendor responses, as well as for all related pre and post project analysis, awarding, and savings tracking.
Maintain ongoing market insight on changes associated with product types, vendors, market conditions and pricing.
Effectively participate in strategic enterprise wide strategic sourcing projects for business unit specific and corporate wide common materials with guidance from procurement leadership
Be primary change agent for any vendor transitions which are directly related to company wide sourcing efforts.
Responsible for maintaining contract files, contract calendars, supplier database, supplier performance scorecards and purchase price variance analysis.
Support implementation of system of controls on receipts and acknowledgment of materials and supplies; establish a database of purchasing records, maintenance agreements, warranties, etc.
Support the central management of vendor/supplier contracts
Develop strategies and build necessary relationships with Division locations and suppliers to implement lower cost alternatives as well as meet all material quality requirements.
Work with division, corporate and plant personnel to mitigate risks associated with the cost and supply of materials.
Implement and support corporate and divisional procurement policies and procedures within the framework of authority protocol and in accordance with company-wide policies and procedures.
Implement guidelines to facilitate standard procurement practices.
Review, analyze and monitor contract performance
Support cross functional efforts with Operations, Quality, Sales, and Customer Service to ensure smooth flow of materials and information
Bachelorís degree, preferably in supply chain, purchasing, business, engineering, finance / accounting or related discipline.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a sourcing or procurement role with direct responsibility for supplier management and pricing/costs decisions.
Working knowledge and experience with strategic sourcing processes

Strong communication and analytical skills
Experience with procurement tools, contract management, ERP purchasing, sourcing, vendor management, reporting, negotiation, trending, cost control, and purchasing administration
Effective interpersonal skills
Strong PC software application knowledge using Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability to participate and function on sourcing teams.
